Showa 48cm Nisai, Kase

The Showa Sanshoku, commonly known as Showa, is one of the "Go Sanke" or "Big Three" koi varieties, alongside Kohaku and Sanke.  It is a tri-coloured koi characterized by a black (sumi) base with vibrant red (hi) and white (shiroji) markings. Unlike other varieties, Showa koi are born entirely black, with their red and white markings developing as they mature.

This Showa was hand selected in January 2026 and has been quarantined in Berkshire since February,
